The Bullet Train! What a Train!

The #BulletTrain! 'Goli Gadi'! What a Train!
Yes, it will be kept spic and s-'paan' -
for ever and ever.
It'll be the pride of Hindu Rashtra

What fun - spitting the paan
from a bullet train!
See it shoot off like a rocket,
almost like a brahmastra of yore!
Travel like a bullet,
spit like a rocket!
Imagine that!
What a train!

Keep chewing paan
and enjoy the trip!
Accompanying cow will get fodder free.
The cow can keep chewing the cud,
while you chew the paan.
Even the US with Potels galore
doesn't have a bullet train, Sirji.

And, don't forget,
here in holy gau rashtra (cow-nation)
accompanying cow gets a free ride! 🤣

Indian Space Program and Recent Reporting – Hype vs Facts: A Quick Look

Was planning to write a long note on the inflated hue and cry over India’s space program. This is a summary of my views without going into the details. Of late, every successful event of the Indian space programme is celebrated as if it is a ‘historic’ one. An impression is given as if the whole program is merely a few years old and all that it has achieved has been in a short period of a few years. To be more specific, unlike in the case of the missions of countries like the USA, when Indian media reports on the Indian missions readers do not get any idea as to when the mission was planned and what kind of effort has gone into it. Just like the Mars Mission launched towards the end of 2013 , the various satellite launches are the result of many years of planning to ensure that India has a series of satellites of different capabilities and there are replacements as old satellites are retired.  India’s Mars Orbiter Mission that was placed into an orbit around Mars in September ...

Welcome LibreOffice! A time to move on

For some time I have truly been a bit out of touch with developments in Open Source software. To me, the flagship Open and Free application was OpenOffice. There are of course, mightier and more beautiful ones like MySQL. But this one is closer to one's finger tips, purring on our Laptops and Desktops. Quite unlike others enthroned on the arrogant servers or known only to developers. OOo (OpenOffice.org) was for me a good enough substitute for MS Office. It was steadily improving. But sadly, our worst fears – of commercial greed choking this great effort – seemed to have come true. As many are aware, Oracle, the database major, acquired Sun Microsystems some time back. Sun had developed Java. Sun had placed the licensing of its Java implementation under the GNU General Public License in 2006. Java had, by then, already become the hot favourite on the web and on all sorts of devices – from big computers to cell phones. Hmm, Yes! I do mean – Java everywhere! It was too true. ...

Feku the Fraudster on a Throne

Feku the fraudster sat on a throne Feku the fraudster pulled a fast one A masterstroke! A masterstroke! Feku the fraudster set everything afire Now, put out the fire, put out the fire Feku the fraudster laughed, yelled and cried A masterstroke! A masterstroke! Feku the fraudster laughed, yelled and cried All the fraudster’s cows and toadies Went around, in circles, in circles Couldn’t put out the engulfing fire Feku the fraudster’s tail was now afire And, all over a burning hell fire.
